The first ATV Sand Wars event was held in 2016, at Little Sahara State Park near Waynoka, Oklahoma and we have proudly called the Little Sahara “home” for our event ever since. Little Sahara State Park is located in Northwestern Oklahoma and is 1,600 acres of free-moving sand dunes ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet tall.

Sand Wars was started by Dustin Kerr as an attempt to give racers one more chance to compete at a well-organized, safe event.  The very first Sand Wars event in 2016 had 50 racers, in 4 different classes. In the years following Dustin’s original event the Sand Wars Board of Directors was built, consisting of a group of men and their families that have had the honor to help the event grow throughout the years; 2022 having been the largest event to date with over 100 racers, 18 different states, competing in 6 different classes.
